Press
Release. 30-03-2006.
The answer is quite simple, ‘change or die!’
(letter sent to the Independent newspaper)
We are heading like lemmings towards the cliff and like
an oil tanker at sea, climate change due to CO2 levels
needs an awfully long time to slow down and stop. Some
believe it may even be too late, but we always have a
chance if we act instinctively. The instinct for survival,
that can override Party politics, is hindered by the relatively
invisible nature of the problem. Only now are the public
and our leaders beginning to notice the danger signs of
CO2 build-up.
We need to unite EVERYONE! That is not a pipedream; it
is an irrefutable fact and an essential necessity. We
need something that is highly visible, that tells the
general public that the moment for action is NOW!
Something
universal.
Something not associated with political factions or religious
faiths.
We need a trigger to wake us up to the fact of the need
to change direction.
‘Traffic lights for peace’ is such an attempt.
It is non-politically aligned.
It is totally non-financial.
It promotes no one particular faith.
The concept is very simple.
Humanity is at a metaphorical crossroads.
In order to survive we need to halt and change direction.
This Movement, ‘Traffic lights for peace’,
calls for the universal signal, that we all disobey at
our peril, to become synonymous with the message:
STOP WAR (red)
CHANGE TO (amber)
GREEN PLANET (green).
The majority of us see the traffic lights
at least once daily and especially those of us whom are
responsible for the bulk of the CO2 produced in the first
place.
By making this traffic light symbol become synonymous
with the message above, we then have a constant reminder,
in an almost subliminal fashion that crosses all language
barriers and international borders, to act responsibly
and responsively in a focused manner.
Our modern lives
are very busy. We need the gentle constant reminder, not
to panic us, but to carefully direct us away from ‘Lemming
Cliff Road’!

Press
Release. 13-02-2006.
1.00 p.m. on 10th
Feb. 2006 marks the moment when the mass of humanity claimed
back its God given inheritance, when a Beacon of Peace
was ‘lit’ by the tying of 100 ribbons.
The names of 100
British Service personnel and 100 Iraqis were read out
and the one hundredth and first British soldier and the
estimated 100,000 (Lancet) innocent Iraqi citizens were
remembered, who lost their lives due to the failure of
politicians. The British people held no malice towards
the Iraqi people and the Iraqi people held no malice towards
the British people, yet many have died because of the
calculated lies of two politicians either side of the
Atlantic, all for the sake of ‘black gold’
(oil).
Humanity has reached
a stage in its development when war is unnecessary. Communication
and globalisation means there is no excuse for powerful
nations to bully weaker ones by systematic killing (war).
Our planet has the resource of oil that is finite and
is being squandered to provide riches for a limited few
and at the same time destroying the future for us all
by adversely affecting the planet’s ability to regulate
its temperature. Oil cannot be provided again. It was
produced by specific circumstances and conditions whereby
fossilised cellulose was transformed by incredible pressure
and heat within the earth’s crust, thereby storing
historical heat energy from the sun. Releasing all that
energy and its by-products in a maniacally short earth
time is understandably destabilising a finely balanced
system. The longer we live in our comfort zone the more
assured is our destruction.
Now is the time for
the majority of humanity to make a stand for our future.
This majority is made up of people who wish to live their
lives in peace and in harmony with the planet that supports
us. Only by realising that we have to act NOW, both individually
AND collectively, by Governments’ legislation, do
we have a chance. Complacency will ensure a future for
an elite few only. On our present path only a selfish
remnant will prevail, the rest of us and our future generations
will die. We need to change direction. This is a struggle
for survival and we are being conned. It is time for the
quietly complacent majority to snap out of a comfort malaise
and take action; Democratic action.
A Beacon of Peace,
that can start a chain reaction for change, has been ‘lit’.
The rest is up to every one of us, for our children and
their generations to come.
Don’t leave action on the environment to someone
else. We are in this together.
Press
Release. 06-02-2006.
As violence
erupts in the Muslim world, will Bush and Blair cynically
use it as an excuse to further their evil intentions.
Most of us realise Iraqi oil will forevermore
be US oil. With the 100th British serviceman losing his
life in the conflict, we reflect with heartfelt sympathy,
the intolerable loses these two leaders have perpertrated.
A new protest against what these two have done and 'Beacon
for Peace' is conceived and initiated this week. See our
protest, press and event pages.
Beacons of
Peace.
This week the BBC
is to air the episode of ‘The Virgin Queen’
when beacons are lit in the reign of Elizabeth I, to warn
of the Armada’s approach and also to inform of its
passing and defeat.
In our decimalised world, on Friday 10th February, in
the reign of Elizabeth II, in the old Roman town Corinium
(modern Cirencester), where Centurions once stood, which
is the nearest major market town to the home of recently
enrolled officers Princes William and Harry, a beacon
for peace and against what Messrs. Bush and Blair have
perpetrated, will be revealed.
The beacon taking the form of a traffic light festooned
with 100 coloured fluttering ribbons. These represent
the colourful vibrant lives lost who will no longer feel
the breeze on their faces, both of the 100 British Servicemen
and the estimated 100,000 Iraqi citizens slayed in the
name of two leaders, whose actions the majority of the
world’s population see as wrong.
Why a traffic
light?
It is a noticeable, strategically situated, universal
symbol, whose light shines out, constantly changing as
a flame and with a message: (red) STOP WAR (amber) CHANGE
TO (green) A GREEN PLANET.
This is a beacon of defiance to warmongers Bush and Blair.
This is a symbol of peace and hope, to change from their
ways to one where the waste of war is ended and action
urgently undertaken to repair our planet’s environment.
This beacon, non-damaging,
non-violent, is reproducable throughout the land, throughout
the world even, since they are globally distributed. Simple
to do (ribbons are readily available at card and party
shops everywhere), so visible as a beacon should be, always
shining its message, repeatable wherever people of peace
reside. Our chance for the people of the world to speak
out against the Bush and Blair era of violence. A beacon
of hope.
The
beacon starts in Cirencester, this Friday, 12.30 to 1.30
p.m., in the Market Place. Let it spread its message throughout
the land and beyond.
Press Release.
28-4-2005.
Knock Blair's slick press and media
manipulating train off-track.
Release our free press from the constraints of Campbell.
Blair and the hidden Campbell's worst nightmare
could be about to happen -
reminders of Iraq on almost every street corner.
The only time Blair has shown cracks in his confident
handling of the press and media is on Iraq.
This is THE chance in the election campaign
for the press to set the agenda. Along with Lord Goldsmith's
7th March revelations comes a new and different form of
protest. One that Labour, Campbell and Blair haven't
planned for.
On
Saturday 30th April events at Cirencester (Market Place
11.00am) and at Gloucester (Eastgate St., traffic lights
by Boots, 12.00 noon) kick-off 5 days of pre-election
traffic light protests, where ribbons, individually representing
the many thousands of lives lives lost in the war on Iraq,
are tied to traffic light posts.
Ribbons will then start appearing on traffic light posts
countrywide, reminding voters of Blair's illegal
war on Iraq.
Why traffic lights?
They signify (red) STOP WAR (amber) CHANGE TO (green)
GREEN PLANET.
Subjects that Blair fails with spectacularly on both counts.
No banners, no words are necessary. The ribbons reveal
the lives lost, reminding voters of Iraq. Simple, peaceful,
non-damaging; equivalent to a poster on every corner and
most importantly outside Blair's control.
Release
our free press from the cynical constraints of Campbell.
Reveal the significance of the traffic light ribbons.
Free us all and our press and media from the cynical purveyors
of Blairite control.

Press Statement.28-4-2005.
Give us a
future!
The Tsunami response showed that the majority of people
in this country are kind hearted and are not interested
in the greed, bigotry and self interest espoused by the
two main political parties who promote fear.
Everyone of a kind heart please join us in a very simple
act and message that we do need to care for each other
and this planet, in order for our children and grandchildren
to have a future.
There is so much negative campaigning and all the emphasis
on self by the main Political Parties. Here is a simple
message to those political leaders that in fact the way
forward is others, not self, for this is the true path
to a future the majority of us seek.
If
you care and hope for that future, where generations to
come share in the benefits and beauty of this world without
destroying it through greed, do come and join us.
A number of like-minded people will be tying ribbons of
peace around the traffic lights at the Market Place in
Cirencester at 11.00 a.m. on Sat. 30th April and at the
traffic lights beside Boots the Chemists in Eastgate St.,
Gloucester at 12.00 noon on the same day.
Why traffic lights?
They symbolise the message:
(red) STOP WAR,
(amber) CHANGE TO,
(green) a GREEN PLANET.
The ribbon tying is a simple act of remembrance
for all the lives lost in the war on Iraq and for all
the future lives that will be lost if we do not act with
environmental responsibility and act now at this eleventh
hour before our chance to preserve our planet is lost.
If you would like to send a message to our political leaders
to look positively and not negatively to our future, please
join with us on Sat. 30th April.
Further information
can be found at www.trafficlights4peace.com
If you would like
to send a message to our political leaders to look positively
and not negatively to our future, please join with us
on Sat. 30th April at the listed sites (see the protest
page), or simply go to your nearest lights and festoon
them with ribbons of peace!
Are you unhappy
with Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair over Iraq?
Are you disturbed by what is happening now in Iraq?
Is there anything you can do about it?
Our leaders are so tunnel
visioned that they cannot see what they are doing. They
have their eyes set upon their goal, their ideal, the
shining example of western democracy standing out as a
beacon to all the surrounding nations.
What they are forgetting though is the people; the people
that are needed to make their ideal into reality.
To make an analogy.
It is like a successful farmer with free range chickens
running about his yard and the open hay barns. He looks
to his house and decides the best for his chickens is
to build a wooden hutch to protect them. He's sure they'll
like that; they'll be warm, comfortable and safe.
He begins to build that hutch but, his mind is so focused
on building it that he fails to see he is crushing all
the eggs and the chicks, stomping around the yard as he
builds it. Whilst he is tucked up safe at night and the
hutch half built, the foxes come and feast on the disturbed
birds.
Will there be any birds left when he finishes the hutch?
Will any birds left be so disturbed that they fail to
lay, or will the hutch eventually house a family of foxes
instead?!
That farmer may have had an admirable goal but, not enough
thought was put into the reason why he initially wanted
to do it. The hutch became the focus of attention, not
the birds.

So it is with Iraq.
Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair are so focused on their goal of
a shining example state, to be admired and copied by its
neighbours, that they have forgotten that the people are
the most important priority, that it is in fact the people
that matter most and it is those people and their running
of that state that will be the beacon.
Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair's tunnel
vision and intransigence is destroying any chance of the
ideal they envisioned. They need to eat humble pie and let
others help. Others that is whom have struggled themselves
for freedom and peace around the world.
There could be reason for that intransigence though and
that is what Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair seek is not a free Iraq
but, a controlled Iraq, so that the offer of freedom is
not really freedom at all and what they want is merely a
mirage in the desert!

In answer to the original
question, yes, you can do something about it. Traffic
lights 4 peace is there to enable the silent majority
to speak. Most people are unhappy with what is happening
in Iraq and the mistakes that have been made and
ignored.
Protest, using the traffic lights as a focus, is
easy for all to do and if eventually all that care
do it, it will send a powerful message to the responsible
Administrations. So many good people have simply
had enough of Mr. Blair and he is still smiling
about it because, he and we know that, our present
electoral system gives him an unfair advantage over
those seeking change.
Thursday
23rd. Dec. 2004, 7.00 p.m. at designated traffic
lights in town and city centres nationwide.
