EDINBURGH July 2005 – MAKE POVERTY HISTORY RALLY. Only 1000 leaflets were given out at Edinburgh and there are many others who would like to see these pictures, who don't have the web site address and so can you please pass it on to as many interested parties as possible.

please ensure your group advertises the site on its email list
or newsletters so that all who wish to see the event photos
can get them. This non-financial website is there primarily
to unite all interested groups for peace, justice and environmental
care, every group seeking such is welcomed. To the leaders of G8 we say, “As leaders you were elected into office and represent the people. A vote signifies a life, a choice made by an individual. If all your votes were lost as frequently as children's lives are in Africa, then you would understand URGENCY. Make the right choice to TACKLE POVERTY NOW!” Most of us seek a future for our families and generations ahead to live in peace and harmony with the world, however, there are forces out there that frustrate and oppose that idea, where self interest is the all encompassing goal. The world's richest nations meet at G8 to wring their hands in reluctance to the call for justice as the greed oozes like thick slimy fat through their clasping fingers. Don't believe anything will be given away pricelessly, await the conditions and claw back clauses. The self interest will ensure real progress is muted. G8 don't want to become G152, for as the number increases the power diminishes. The self interest of the leaders is that which enables any consideration to be given toward fairness and justice, for to be the name that delivers such a populous image is too tempting for men of greed, power and ever increasing ambition. We need to take what crumbs they offer, for crumbs they will be whatever hype they put upon their eventual concession. The actual spending on weapons from the 'giving' nations will outstrip aid and relief by thousands of billions. From those crumbs however, we must build the means for sustenance of the multitude in the future and be willing to share. Make poverty history is not a phrase that trips naturally off the lips of leaders of G8, for they truly believe that they have to be very, very rich to be able to improve the lot of the very, very poor. The greatest hope here is that self interest defeats itself and provides the escape route to justice. Truly great men and women are humble, not attention seekers. Let there be humble people working miracles with the crumbs. |
