Most people
want peace. Most people want an environment fit to live in for
ourselves and our children to come.
There
are ways to change things by peaceful means, without resorting
to violence.
The administrations of Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair should take note.
In a world
of globalisation, we in fact feel smaller than ever, even more
helpless.
We can in truth make a difference as individuals, but effective
action has to be collectively based.
THAT
IS WHAT THIS PROTEST COMMUNICATES.
Enabling everybody the opportunity to do something so simple
that shows we are not helpless, that we do care.

You may not
have managed to march for peace pre Iraq or protest for a safer
environment against powerful institutions, but here is a chance
to have a voice; a chance for the silent majority to have a
say.
The traffic light protest may seem a strange one, but it is
something we can all do. We just need the courage not to believe
we are helpless in a big world and to take this opportunity
to change direction for our future.

THE
PURPOSE OF THIS CAMPAIGN IS TO UTILISE ONE OF THE DAILY
REMINDERS OF OUR "PETROL DRIVEN" SOCIETY - TRAFFIC
LIGHTS - AS A FORCE FOR GOOD. THE INTENTION IS THAT WHEN
WE SEE A RED LIGHT, WE WILL BE REMINDED OF THE MESSAGE "STOP
WAR" |
|
| |
GET
READY FOR CHANGE. WE CAN STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR PLANET.
OUR EARTH IS BEING DESTROYED - FOR POLITICAL & COMMERCIAL
GAIN. WE CAN STOP THE CULTURE OF GREED - AND THE KILLING!
WE ARE THE MAJORITY - WE WILL BE HEARD - GET READY TO MAKE
A REAL DIFFERENCE NOW! |
|
| |
WHEN
WE SEE A GREEN LIGHT – WE MUST THINK “ GREEN”.
SAVE ENERGY AND CARE FOR OUR PLANET. ITS UP TO US. DON'T
LET THE GREED MERCHANTS DESTROY IT. LET'S GO FOR A
GREENER, SAFER, WAR-FREE PLANET. WE ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE…. |
|
This has been
developed to enable everyone who wishes to the simple opportunity
to protest and leave their mark.
Easy to do, takes little time, no resources wasted, yet gives
a clear indication of the objection felt.
At last the silent majority given the chance to show their voice!
How is this achieved?
Traffic lights are part of our everyday life in our petrol driven
world.
We see them daily.
Most of us are fairly close to one at any given time or place.
Traffic lights are a symbol that we observe and respond to with
an
action and we disregard them at our peril.
If that symbol becomes synonymous with the call to (red light)
STOP WAR and (amber light) CHANGE TO (green light) a GREEN PLANET,
then we can utilise that association BOTH for protest AND to give
a gentle reminder to us each time we see the lights, to strive
for peace and a greener, more just world.
THE TRAFFIC LIGHT PROTEST IS BORN!
We
can only disarm the extremists by tackling the problems that cause
their grievance. Throwing more missiles at an already traumatised
population makes no sense. Mr Blair does not represent the majority
view of the British people.
join the first
traffic light protest on 24th October 2004 at 12 noon.
Don't 'put up and shut up', instead show them you care.
Walk to your
nearest traffic light
(or crossroads in small communities).
Observe the one minute silence for ALL lives lost in Iraq.
Then, if you
wish, tie a ribbon (of any colour) around one post. A visible
non-damaging objection to what they have done, utilising the symbolism
of the lights.
